Workplace technology should work for people.

I’m Kjeld Laurant, a Workplace Engineer. I currently lead a service desk team and work to make the workplace better for end users without giving up on security.

Three sides of the same workplace.

01 / PEOPLE

Start with the person.

User support and day-to-day usability are part of the engineering work, not something separate from it.

USER SUPPORT / TEAM COLLABORATIONRead about the practice

The details people notice every day.

I lead a service desk team and work on the systems behind the everyday workplace. That means helping people get the applications they need, making new devices easier to prepare, and introducing new tools without losing sight of security.

Applications in one place

I helped make work applications centrally available instead of leaving them scattered.

Devices ready when needed

I helped set up Windows Autopilot flows to prepare laptops and workstations with the software people need.

AI in everyday work

I help introduce a range of AI tools across the workplace, while contributing to the policies, monitoring and governance needed to use them responsibly.

The work I do now.

Always building something.

Outside work, I’m usually making or learning something. I love printing things for family and friends, and my homelab gives me a place to explore self-hosting and Linux. I’d like to work with Linux professionally too, although I haven’t done so in a job yet.

Open the side quest

At the printer. I use a Bambu Lab P2S with an AMS2 unit to print 3D models that family and friends find online. I’m always looking for the next project.

In the homelab. I recently made a 10-inch rack for my homelab nodes. The lab runs on Proxmox and hosts my media and photo libraries.

Let’s talk about what comes next.
